Description

This is a brand new mug fresh from the kiln by the popular young artist Yoshiteru Koriki, an apprentice of the master Sozan Kaneshige. Its large design makes it perfect for use as a beer mug as well. Master Koriki's authentic *hidasuki* (fire-cord) markings are so moist and fresh that they look as if they were fired in a wood-burning kiln, showcasing his high level of technical skill. Thick, soft, spreading *hidasuki* are combined with thin, sharp lines in perfect balance, creating a beautiful landscape on the surface. Paper box
Diameter 12.2cm × 8.8cm × Height 9.6cm Yoshiteru Koriki was born in Ako City, Hyogo Prefecture. Influenced by his father, who loved pottery, he set his heart on the path of ceramics. After graduating from high school, he studied pottery techniques under the father-son duo of Sozan and Yuho Kaneshige starting in 1989. After seven years of training, he built his own climbing kiln in Shizutani, Bizen City, in 1996 and set out on his own, successfully firing his first kiln the following year. He held his first solo exhibition in Tokyo in 2000 and has held annual solo exhibitions ever since. In 1999, his work was selected for the "Northern Confectionery Vessels I'd Like to Use" exhibition, and in 2002, he was selected for the "Tea Ceremony Forms" exhibition for the first time.
