Description

This Bizen sake cup is by Hisanaga Koide, who made his long-awaited debut after completing a lengthy apprenticeship under Juro Harada. Through the kiln-firing techniques he learned from Harada, Koide has created a piece that is thoroughly fired yet retains a rich, earthy character. The rim features a deep shiso-red color, while the interior displays a soft, orange-tinted clay texture. The tsuke-kodai (applied foot) is a masterful example of Harada’s direct instruction, with its rod-shaped design lending the piece a unique and striking presence. (*Please note: There is a very small kiln flaw on the surface, which does not affect its use.) Signed wooden box (shiho-san)
