Description

This is a Kohiki (powdered glaze) teacup by the popular young artist Yoshiteru Koriki, a former apprentice to the late master Sozan Kaneshige. The piece features a beautiful white glaze inherited from his mentor, Sozan Kaneshige, that immediately catches the eye. The clean, cool-looking white glaze is perfect for the coming season. Its orthodox style, characteristic of Koriki, makes it suitable for anyone and an ideal gift. The soft impression of the white glaze combined with the rounded, gentle form creates an appearance reminiscent of a snowball or a confection. Paper box
Diameter 7.9cm × Diameter 7.9cm × Height 7.1cm Yoshiteru Koriki was born in Ako City, Hyogo Prefecture. Influenced by his father, who loved ceramics, he aspired to pursue the path of pottery. After graduating from high school, he studied under Sozan Kaneshige and his son Yuho Kaneshige starting in 1989 to learn the techniques of the craft. After seven years of apprenticeship, he built his own climbing kiln in Shizutani, Bizen City, in 1996 and established his independence, achieving success with his first firing the following year. He held his first solo exhibition in Tokyo in 2000 and has held annual solo exhibitions ever since. In 1999, his work was selected for the "Exhibition of Confectionery Bowls from the North I'd Like to Use," and in 2002, it was selected for the "Exhibition of Tea Ceremony Forms" for the first time.
