Description

This is a Kohiki (powdered glaze) teacup by the popular young artist Yoshiteru Koriki, a former apprentice of the master Sozan Kaneshige. The piece catches the eye with a beautiful white glaze inherited from his mentor, Sozan Kaneshige. The clean, cool-looking white glaze is perfect for the coming season. The orthodox style characteristic of Koriki makes it a versatile choice, ideal as a gift. The soft impression of the white glaze and the rounded, mound-like form combine to create a piece with a gentle atmosphere, reminiscent of a snowball or a confection. Paper box
Diameter 7.9cm × Diameter 7.8cm × Height 7.1cm Yoshiteru Koriki was born in Ako City, Hyogo Prefecture. Influenced by his pottery-loving father, he aspired to a career in ceramics. After graduating from high school, he studied under the father-and-son duo of Sozan and Yuho Kaneshige starting in 1989 to learn the techniques of the craft. After seven years of training, he established his own climbing kiln in Shizutani, Bizen City, in 1996, and successfully fired his first kiln the following year. He held his first solo exhibition in Tokyo in 2000 and has held annual solo exhibitions ever since. In 1999, he was selected for the "Kita no Kashiki" (Tea Sweets Vessel) exhibition, and in 2002, he was selected for the "Chanoyu no Zokei" (Forms of Tea Ceremony) exhibition for the first time.
