Description
This new Ibe sake cup is the work of Mashiro Aiga, an artist known for creating uncompromising, spirited pieces. He applied a slip made from iron-rich melted clay, creating a rich, deep black-purple landscape that looks like boiled-down purple pigment. He placed pieces of fire-resistant clay in various shapes like partitions to protect the surface from the ash during firing, resulting in a luxurious, intense application of "goma" (ash glaze) based on an inverted triangle motif. The rich, mustard-colored goma changes its texture depending on the area, ranging from a "melon skin" surface to a well-melted, smooth finish—a brilliant culmination of his intense commitment to the firing process.
Signed wooden box to be provided later (please allow some time for shipping).
