Description
This is a new Ibe sake cup by Mashiro Aiga, a creator of uncompromising, spirited works. He applies a slip made from iron-rich melted clay to create a dense, blackish-purple landscape that resembles concentrated purple pigment. By placing fireproof clay in various shapes like partitions to shield the piece from falling ash, he has achieved a remarkably luxurious effect of rich, mustard-colored ash glazing centered on an inverted triangle. The texture of this rich ash varies from spot to spot, ranging from a melon-skin texture to a well-melted, smooth finish, serving as a brilliant culmination of his intense dedication to the firing process.
