Description

This sake cup is created by Shusaku Taku, an artist who shapes his work by fermenting the various inspirations of daily life, drawing upon Bizen ware that has matured alongside the continuous activities of people over generations. The fine irregularities and flow of the clay, achieved through the coil-building technique, give the piece a powerful sense of movement; when held, it feels as if the cup becomes one with your palm, as if you were gripping the raw clay itself. The interior features bold potter's wheel marks resembling a whirlpool, which emerge as you finish your drink. The surface, fired to a beautifully satisfying degree, has a rich luster, embodying the bright and refreshing character of orthodox Bizen ware.
