Description

This sake cup is created by Shusaku Taku, an artist who transforms the inspirations of daily life into form, working with Bizen ware—a ceramic tradition that has matured alongside the continuous activities of humanity for centuries. The subtle undulations and flow of the clay, achieved through the coil-building technique, give the piece a powerful sense of motion; when held, it integrates with your palm, making you feel as though you are holding the raw clay itself. The interior features bold potter's wheel marks resembling a whirlpool, which emerge as you finish your drink. The surface was treated with a burner to induce shrinkage and create cracks, which, combined with the rugged "kase-goma" (matte ash) glaze, evokes the atmosphere of a vast, untamed wilderness.
