Description
This sake bottle is the work of Shusaku Taku, an artist who shapes Bizen ware—a craft that has matured alongside the continuous activities of people throughout history—by using his daily inspirations as the yeast for his creations. The form, created using the coil-building technique with a subtly shifted center point, has a very three-dimensional and characterful silhouette. While the impression of a sake bottle can change drastically depending on the angle of its rise, Taku’s bottle features a variety of movements while remaining straight and upright, resulting in a piece that is intuitive and easy to use. The "sen-dan maki" (thousand-tier coil) design complements the black Ibe-de finish perfectly, adding a sense of depth to the piece so that the rich "goma" (ash glaze) and the Ibe-de texture do not appear flat.
