Description

This sake cup is created by Shusaku Taku, an artist who transforms daily inspirations into form, using the Bizen ware tradition that has matured alongside the continuous activities of people throughout history. The fine textures and clay flow created by the coil-building technique give the piece a powerful sense of movement; when held, it feels as though it becomes one with your palm, as if you were molding the clay yourself. While it has a thick, substantial weight, particularly around the base, it possesses a grand and vigorous presence. Hidasuki (fire-cord) patterns are often associated with elegance, but this piece features a rich, dense, and bold Hidasuki decoration. Original signed wooden box to be provided later (please allow some time for shipping).
Diameter 7.2cm × Diameter 7.1cm × Height 6.8cm Shusaku Taku was born in 1980 as the eldest son of Mamoru Taku. In 2002, he received the Okayama Prefectural Board of Education Superintendent's Award at the Japan Traditional Kogei Chugoku Branch Exhibition. In 2004, he won the Excellence Award at the Tanabe Museum of Art Tea Ceremony Molding Exhibition. He has also been selected for various exhibitions, including the Okayama Prefectural Art Exhibition and the Japan Traditional Kogei Chugoku Branch Exhibition.
