Description

This sake cup is the work of Shusaku Taku, an artist who shapes his pieces by fermenting the various inspirations of daily life, drawing upon the Bizen ware tradition that has matured alongside human activity through the ages. The fine indentations and flow of the clay created by the coil-building technique give the piece a powerful sense of movement, and holding it feels as though the clay itself has become one with your palm. The moist, matte surface, rich with deep red tones, is accented by an intense scarlet *hi-dasuki* fire cord, creating a captivating dance of red and crimson. With its thick, substantial weight in the hand and the wabi-sabi charm of a light dusting of *goma* ash glaze, this sake cup possesses the refined, aged aesthetic of antique Bizen ware. (Please note that there is a kiln flaw on the interior base.)
