Description

This sake bottle is the work of Shusaku Taku, who transforms the daily inspirations he ferments into forms, working with Bizen ware—a craft that has matured alongside the continuous activities of people throughout history. The hand-coiled construction, which subtly shifts the center point, creates a three-dimensional and character-filled silhouette. While the impression of a sake bottle changes drastically depending on how it rises, Taku's bottle, despite incorporating a wide variety of movements, extends straight upward, resulting in a straightforward and easy-to-use piece. It possesses a tension in the body and a shoulder angle that cannot be achieved on a potter's wheel; while the tactile experience of using it is slightly idiosyncratic, it carries a unique atmosphere.
