Description
This Bizen Hidasuki sake cup is a work by Yoshinobu Morimoto, an artist with an excellent aesthetic sense who continues to evolve in his handling of clay, firing techniques, and craftsmanship. The piece features a beige-toned clay body covered entirely by a somewhat bright scarlet Hidasuki (fire-cord) pattern, resulting in an elegantly finished work. The interior is fully decorated with Hidasuki, making it a delight to observe how the patterns change depending on whether the cup is filled with sake or empty. In particular, when sake is poured, the black spots where iron has seeped through appear like continents in an ocean, as if one were peering into a globe.
Signed wooden box (shiho-san style)
