Description

This beer mug is the work of Shusaku Taku, an artist who shapes his pieces by fermenting the various inspirations of daily life, drawing on the Bizen ware tradition that has matured alongside the lives of people through the ages. It is a stylish beer mug, accented with spatula cuts made after wheel-throwing. It is slightly thick with a solid feel in the hand, and its presence is enhanced by the tactile sensation of the cut surfaces. The rim is finished perfectly flat, which complements the oval silhouette beautifully. The surface features a yellow "kase-goma" (dry sesame ash) glaze that clings to the skin, with a network of "bidoro" (natural ash glaze) running across it like a transit map.
