Description

This beer mug by Shusaku Taku is crafted from Bizen ware, a tradition that has matured over centuries by closely following the lives of the people, with the artist using the various inspirations of daily life as yeast to give it form. It is a stylish beer vessel, accentuated by cuts made with a spatula after being wheel-thrown. With a slightly thick, solid feel in the hand, the texture of the cuts gives it a distinct presence in one's palm. The rim is finished perfectly flat, complementing the oval silhouette. The entire body is covered in a sandstorm-like "goma" (ash glaze), while the natural gray clay texture is visible only on the foot.
