Description

This beer mug is the work of Shusaku Taku, an artist who takes the everyday inspirations of life and ferments them into form, working with Bizen ware—a tradition that has matured alongside the continuous flow of human activity. This stylish beer mug features accents created by cutting into the clay with a spatula after it has been shaped on the potter's wheel. It has a slightly thick, solid feel in the hand, and the tactile quality of the cut sections gives it a distinct presence in the palm. The rim is finished perfectly flat, which complements its oval silhouette. The magnificent "goma" (sesame) ash glaze has melted beautifully, with some areas shifting into a water-blue hue, creating a truly luxurious landscape.
