Description

This tea cup by Shusaku Taku is crafted from Bizen ware, a tradition that has matured alongside the lives of people throughout the ages, and shaped by the artist using his daily inspirations as a catalyst. The piece was slowly formed on a potter's wheel, resulting in a slightly wide shape featuring a dignified waist and a refined, tapered shoulder. When held, the thumb and index finger fit perfectly into the tapered shoulder, a functional design that is a welcome feature for Bizen ware, which tends to conduct heat. The yellow of the *kase-goma* (ash glaze) and the reddish-brown of the *hidasuki* (fire-cord) markings match magnificently, creating a truly luxurious landscape.
