Description

This is a new Bizen sake cup, fresh from the kiln by Naonaga Koide, who has made his highly anticipated debut after completing a long apprenticeship under Juroku Harada. Compared to his previous kiln, this piece is slightly more compact, with a form that sits comfortably in the palm of the hand. The reduced size accentuates the curve of the body and the wheel marks in the interior, creating an air of something being protected within, like a flower bud ready to bloom. The characteristically rich and dense clay quality remains, and the piece features a truly unique coloration, blending hues of orange, pink, and purple. Signed wooden box to be provided later (please allow some time for shipping).
Diameter 7.2cm x 6.9cm x Height 6.0cm Naonaga Koide was born in Amagasaki City, Hyogo Prefecture, in 1978. He became an apprentice to Juroku Harada in 1997. He went independent in 2011 and built an ascending kiln in Ushimado-cho, Setouchi City, Okayama Prefecture. He fired his first kiln in 2013.
