Description
This is a newly fired Bizen sake cup by Hisanaga Koide, who has made his long-awaited debut after completing a lengthy apprenticeship under Juro Harada. It is slightly more compact than his previous kiln output, with a form that sits comfortably in the palm of the hand. Although my hands are quite large, the mortar-shaped rim makes it easy to hook my thumb and index finger, while placing my middle finger on the body and my ring finger on the foot provides an exceptional grip. The "hidasuki" (fire-cord) markings are rich and viscous, as if they have seeped out from the clay itself; they are truly superb, with the markings inside the cup glowing in a magnificent orange.
Signed wooden box to be provided later (please allow some time for shipping).
