Description

This rice bowl is the work of Shusaku Taku, an artist who takes the inspiration of daily life and uses it as yeast to shape Bizen ware—a craft that has matured alongside the continuous activities of people throughout history. The shape is neither too deep nor too wide, making it easy to use, and when combined with the bamboo-node foot inspired by Goryeo tea bowls, the result is a truly dignified rice bowl. The outer surface features a characteristic amber hue created by applying slip with a brush, which pairs exquisitely with the rich scenery of yellow sesame (ki-goma) ash glaze. The interior is adorned with an elegant fire-cord (hidasuki) pattern, making this a piece quintessentially Taku—a bowl that brings joy to every use.
