Description

This sake cup by Shusaku Taku is a piece that has been shaped by fermenting the emotions of daily life into form, drawing on Bizen ware that has matured alongside the continuous activities of people throughout history. The fine textures and flow of the clay created through coil building give the work a powerful sense of movement, and holding it in your hand creates a feeling of oneness, as if you are grasping the clay itself. While it has a slightly thicker waist and a substantial, heavy feel, it possesses a large and vigorous presence. While *hidasuki* (fire-cord) patterns often have a graceful impression, this one is dense, rich, and masculine.
