Description

This is a new 4-sun Bizen plate by Yoshinobu Morimoto, an artist with an exceptional aesthetic sense who continues to evolve in his work with clay, firing, and craftsmanship. Focusing on "coordination," a key theme in Mr. Morimoto's recent work, he has created tableware that can be enjoyed in combination with the sake vessels and other pieces he has released to date. The versatile rectangular shape offers great freedom in how it can be arranged, and with a little creativity, it will surely enliven any dining table or drinking session. The "kangen hidasuki" (reduction-fired fire-cord) scenery—a deep hidasuki pattern against the gray clay body Mr. Morimoto is currently focusing on—will reveal an even more beautiful character if you soak it in water before use.
