Description

This is a new four-sun Bizen plate by Yoshinobu Morimoto, an artist with an exceptional aesthetic sense who continues to evolve in his handling of clay, firing, and craftsmanship. Focusing on the theme of "toriawase" (coordination)—a central focus of Morimoto's work in recent years—we commissioned these pieces to be enjoyed in harmony with the sake vessels and other works he has released to date. The base features the wabi-sabi kiln transformation of weathered *goma* (ash glaze) and dry, eroded-looking *kase-goma*, paired with the vibrant, flame-like scarlet of the fire, creating a work that achieves a quiet, austere world view despite its intense contrast. The orthodox form was designed specifically to let the "scenery" of the clay take center stage and to ensure ease of use when coordinating with other tableware. Paper box
