Description
This is a new four-sun Bizen plate by Yoshinobu Morimoto, an artist with an exceptional aesthetic sense who continues to evolve in his work with clay, firing techniques, and craftsmanship. Focusing on his recent theme of "coordination," we asked him to create tableware that can be enjoyed in combination with the sake vessels and other pieces he has released in the past. At just under 15 cm, this easy-to-use plate is versatile enough to be used as a small serving dish for drinks or for sweets. The firing is characteristic of Morimoto’s personal take on the traditional "Old Bizen" style, featuring layers of fine, maki-e-like sesame glaze and an understated, weathered-looking scarlet fire-cord (hidasuki) pattern.
