Description

These are new 4-sun Bizen plates by Yoshinobu Morimoto, an artist with an exceptional aesthetic sense who continues to evolve in his work with clay, firing, and craftsmanship. Focusing on "coordination," a key theme in Mr. Morimoto's recent work, he has created tableware designed to be enjoyed in combination with the sake vessels and other pieces he has released in the past. At just under 15 cm, these easy-to-use plates are versatile enough to be used as side plates for sake pairings, dessert plates, and more. The "kangen hidaski" (reduced flame-marked) scenery—a grey base with dark crimson markings, a technique to which Mr. Morimoto is particularly dedicated—reveals an even more beautiful character if you soak the plates in water before use.
