Description

This is a new 4-sun Bizen plate by Yoshinobu Morimoto, an artist with an exceptional aesthetic sense who continues to evolve in his approach to clay, firing, and craftsmanship. Focusing on the theme of "toriawase" (harmonious combination), which has been central to his recent work, Morimoto-sensei has created tableware designed to be enjoyed in combination with his previously released sake vessels and other pieces. At just under 15 centimeters, this versatile plate is perfectly sized for use as an individual serving plate at a sake gathering, a sweet dish, or a variety of other purposes. The "kangen-hidasuki" (reduced fire-cord) scenery—characterized by deep scarlet hidasuki patterns against a gray background, a technique to which Morimoto-sensei is particularly dedicated—reveals an even more beautiful character when soaked in water before use.
