Description
This is a new Bizen four-sun plate by Yoshinobu Morimoto, an artist with an exceptional aesthetic sense who continues to evolve in his handling of clay, firing, and craftsmanship. Focusing on the theme of "coordination" (toriawase), which has been central to his work in recent years, we commissioned this piece as tableware designed to be enjoyed in combination with the sake vessels and other items he has released previously. At just under 15 centimeters, this versatile plate is perfectly sized for use as an individual serving dish or a confection plate. The firing is a true embodiment of Morimoto’s signature "Old Bizen" style, featuring layers of fine "sesame" (goma) glaze resembling makie lacquerwork, and understated "fire-cord" (hidasuki) markings that create a sophisticated landscape.
