Description

This is a new 4-sun Bizen plate by Yoshinobu Morimoto, an artist with an exceptional aesthetic sense who continues to evolve in his approach to clay, firing, and craftsmanship. Focusing on "coordination," a key theme in his recent work, we commissioned this tableware piece to be enjoyed in combination with the sake vessels he has previously released. Built upon a base of wabi-sabi kiln-altered textures—such as withered-looking sesame glaze and weathered, crusty *kase-goma*—the piece incorporates vibrant, flame-like scarlet hues to create a striking contrast, while maintaining a tranquil and austere worldview. Resembling fallen leaves or autumn foliage, its scarlet beauty is further polished when dampened before use, evoking the irresistible allure of ancient Bizen pottery recovered from the sea. Paper box
