Description

This is a new 4-sun Bizen plate by Yoshinobu Morimoto, an artist with an exceptional aesthetic sense who continues to evolve in his approach to clay, firing, and craftsmanship. Focusing on the theme of "toriawase" (combination)—a central concept in Morimoto-sensei’s recent work—we commissioned this piece to be enjoyed in combination with the sake vessels and other tableware he has presented in the past. The piece is based on a wabi-sabi kiln transformation, featuring the withered texture of sesame (goma) glaze and weather-beaten "kase-goma," combined with a vibrant, flame-like scarlet that creates a powerful contrast while maintaining a world of tranquil simplicity. The orthodox form was designed specifically to let the scenery of the glaze take center stage and to ensure ease of use when paired with other pieces. Paper box
