Description
This is a new four-sun Bizen plate by Yoshinobu Morimoto, an artist with an exceptional aesthetic sense who is constantly evolving in his approach to clay, firing, and craftsmanship. Focusing on the concept of "toriawase" (harmonious combination), a major theme in his recent work, we commissioned this tableware to be enjoyed in combination with the sake vessels and other pieces he has released to date. At just under 15 centimeters, this plate is a convenient size for a wide range of uses, such as a side plate for drinking sessions or a dish for sweets. The firing is a true reflection of Morimoto's style, aiming for an antique Bizen aesthetic, with fine "goma" (sesame seed glaze) forming layers like *makie* lacquerwork, and muted *hidasuki* (fire-cord) markings creating a sophisticated landscape.
