Description
This is a Bizen three-legged mukozuke (side dish bowl) by Jumpei Kaneshige, the eldest son of Kousuke Kaneshige, the leading figure of the Kaneshige family. In a pottery world that is increasingly mechanized, the rustic charm of pieces created with a steadfast commitment to traditional clay-making techniques is perfectly suited for tableware. As if to cherish the deep character of the clay, a fine, scattered dusting of "goma" (ash glaze) gently strokes the surface, creating a subtle yet profound aesthetic. The three-legged, curled-foot design, which is quintessentially Jumpei-sensei—simple in appearance but featuring stylish details—is utterly charming.
