Description

This is a Bizen hidaski sake cup by Yoshinobu Morimoto, an artist with a superb aesthetic sense who continues to evolve in his work with clay, firing, and form. This is one of Mr. Morimoto’s unique "black hidaski" pieces, achieved through relentless research, featuring vibrant red streaks across a black base. The black surface has a smooth, pleasant texture, and the quality of the firing gives the piece an evocative charm that appeals to all five senses. The delicate, ethereal form combined with the bleeding, scorched-like appearance of the hidaski creates a work that touches the wabi-sabi spirit with its fragility. The rim is well-defined for a clean pour, and the slightly recessed base makes it highly functional. Signed wooden box (shiho-san style)
