Description
This is a new small black bowl by Yoshinobu Morimoto, an artist with an exceptional aesthetic sense who continues to evolve in his work with clay, firing techniques, and craftsmanship. The glaze has undergone kiln transformation, resulting in an overall matte black finish, with subtle variations such as faint silver carbonization and "sesame" (ash) speckling across the surface. Most striking is the kiln-transformed crimson glaze inside the bowl; the black glaze has shifted in a unique way, creating an impact unlike any of his previous black works. Perfect as a small bowl for tea or café au lait, its presence—reminiscent of black Raku ware—also makes it an excellent choice for whisking thin tea (usucha) at home.
