Description
This is a new Bizen black sake cup by Takashi Baba, an artist born in Imbe who has loved Bizen ware since childhood and finds his life's joy in creating works and firing kilns. Due to firing in a new kiln and seasonal factors, the "goma" (ash glaze) has taken on a matte, ash-gray hue, while the black body has become a metallic black with a faint bluish, golden sheen. The uniquely shimmering surface possesses a mysterious luster, much like a raw gemstone. The deeply recessed foot is highly impressive; when viewed from directly in front, the triangle of the foot itself and the triangle of the trimming overlap, and when looking down at the rim, it is interesting to find that it forms a very gentle triangular shape.
