Description
This Bizen black tea cup was fired in a new kiln by Takashi Baba, who was born in Imbe and has loved Bizen ware since childhood, finding joy in creating works and firing the kiln. Due to the firing in the new kiln and seasonal factors, the sesame glaze has taken on a matte, ash-gray hue, while the black surface has become a metallic black with a faint bluish, gilded tint. Thick, molten sesame glazes flow along the undulating potter's wheel marks, fully conveying the intensity of the firing. The design, including the foot, features a deeply recessed structure that reflects the unique creativity typical of Mr. Baba.
