Description
This is a Bizen black coffee set by Masao Akitani, an artist who apprenticed under Living National Treasure Jun Isezaki and creates works overflowing with unique originality within a new spirit. This piece combines the fresh sensibilities cultivated under Jun Isezaki with the artist's own desire, as a pottery enthusiast himself, to pursue ease of use. While maintaining the stylish texture of the black glaze, the piece prominently features the characteristic Bizen "goma" (ash glaze) and "hidasuki" (fire-cord) patterns, creating a warmth within its innovative design. The saucer alone is very stylish and would be interesting to use on its own as a small plate.
