Description
This Ki-seto sake cup is by Go Ikenishi, an artist who lives up to the name of his studio, Fugen-gama ("Silent Kiln"), by letting his actions speak louder than words as he consistently takes on the challenge of recreating masterpieces of old, captivating people with his brilliant and bold works. About a size larger than the Ki-seto sake cups he typically creates, it features intricate detailing that makes it look like a miniature tea bowl, resulting in a sake cup that is both precise and dynamic. The prominent throwing marks on the lower interior sides, combined with the way the tanban (copper green glaze) swirls down into the center of the vessel like a whirlpool, create a stunning, deeply compelling aesthetic. The soft, elegant Ki-seto glaze is lightly scorched to a pleasant, textured finish, and the evocative, alluring style of the piece is sure to enhance the flavor of any sake served within it.
