Description

This is a new Ibe tokkuri (sake bottle) by Mashiro Aiga, an artist known for creating works that are consistently straightforward and full of character. While it is an Ibe-te piece coated in iron-rich clay, the focus is on highlighting the delicate natural gradations of the clay itself, resulting in a base texture reminiscent of melted chocolate, complemented by various colors including wine-red gradients. The rich wine-red gradation, which only Aiga-sensei can achieve, is truly magnificent, creating a depth of surface so exquisite that one feels as if the skin might melt away upon touch. Combined with a luster that appears almost damp and fine-grained "tobi-goma" (sprinkled sesame ash glaze), the result is a complete "Mashiro World" where intense firing meets a melting clay texture.
