Description
This is a black bowl by Masao Akitani, who studied under Living National Treasure Jun Isezaki and creates works full of his own unique originality within a new spirit. It is a medium-sized bowl, larger than a rice bowl or small side bowl, yet smaller than a deep serving bowl. It carries the distinct characteristics of Akitani-sensei throughout, perfectly matching the cool "kuro-bizen" (black Bizen) style—a hallmark of Jun Isezaki’s Bizen—with an orthodox, easy-to-use form. The black color is chic and versatile for any ingredient, and it also pairs perfectly with Bizen’s "goma" (ash glaze) and "hidasuki" (fire-cord) markings, creating a landscape inside the bowl where understated elegance and a sense of vitality coexist.
