Description

This Bizen sake server is by Hisanaga Koide, who has made his long-awaited debut after completing a lengthy apprenticeship under the master Juroku Harada. Its form, deliberately left unrefined by human hands, remains as wild and free as a clod of earth freshly unearthed, even after being fired. The magnificent color of the clay itself serves as the perfect accompaniment to a drink, and one cannot help but become intoxicated by the subtle, shimmering shiso-pink hues of the clay body. It is a work that brilliantly inherits the "Haradaism" that presents a profound sense of wabi-sabi while simultaneously showcasing weightiness and a rugged, untamed spirit. With an abundance of stone inclusions, surface eruptions, and rough cracks across every part of the piece, the scenery is evocative of Juroku Harada’s own work; it is so powerful that it could easily be enjoyed as a decorative object rather than just a vessel for sake. Original wooden box to be provided later (please note that it will take some time before shipping)
Diameter including spout 15.2cm × Diameter 12.0cm × Height 8.0cm Hisanaga Koide was born in Amagasaki City, Hyogo Prefecture, in 1978. In 1997, he became an apprentice to Juroku Harada. He became independent in 2011 and built a climbing kiln in Ushimado-cho, Setouchi City, Okayama Prefecture. He fired his first kiln in 2013.
