Description
This new Ido-style sake cup is the latest work by Yoshinobu Morimoto, an artist with an exceptional aesthetic sense who continues to evolve in his mastery of clay, firing, and form. True to Morimoto-sensei’s passion for researching not only Bizen ware but also Ido pottery, this piece possesses a dignified character and a refined, weathered aesthetic that rivals classical works. Intending to translate the cherished tactile quality of the Ido tea bowls loved by the tea masters of old into a sake cup, he has crafted a piece that retains the elegant form of a tea bowl, complete with stunning crackle glazes and "kairagi" (plum blossom) textures that promise to develop a beautiful patina over time. The cup features a brilliant loquat color—the quintessential appeal of Ido ware—creating a wonderful harmony between its sensual allure and the weathered landscape formed by the crackle glaze.
With signed wooden box (shiho-san style)
