Description
This is a Hidasuki sake cup by Tamon Kaneshige, who continues to hone his skills on the rigorous path of pottery, following in the footsteps of his father, the late Susumu Kaneshige. Hidasuki, where the raw clay is exposed, is a specialty of the Kaneshige school, and the slightly coarse texture of the clay has produced a superb, subdued white coloration. As you use it over time, this coarse surface will gradually wear down, transforming into a smooth texture to the touch. This work inherits the magnificent Hidasuki coloration developed by Sozan Kaneshige, who pioneered the firing of Hidasuki in an electric kiln.
