Description
This Bizen sake flask is the work of Tamon Kaneshige, who continues to hone his skills on the rigorous path of pottery, following in the footsteps of his father, the late Susumu Kaneshige. The Kaneshige family preserves traditional methods of clay preparation, resulting in a refined scarlet-hued texture that is truly peerless. This piece embodies the simplest yet most challenging pursuit of "firing fine clay with care," featuring deep, alluring *kase-goma* (matte ash glaze) and scarlet landscapes that reveal their true charm the more one learns about Bizen ware. The layered, reddish-purple to scarlet tones of the clay are further accentuated by the scorched markings around the waist.
