Description
This Bizen teacup is by Takashi Soga, an artist who challenges the beauty of antiquity by recreating the same conditions in which old Bizen ware was fired. The piece features a unique finish, with a faint black *hidasuki* (fire cord) pattern over a strongly reddish clay body. Its rugged construction perfectly complements the old Bizen-style firing. The rich, dense texture of the clay, a hallmark of Soga's meticulous attention to the quality of his materials, provides a tactile pleasure that will make you want to keep holding it whenever you use it.
