Description
This is a new Bizen sake cup by Mashiro Aiga, an artist known for creating works that are always straightforward and substantial. This new sake cup features a flat saucer shape, a style he has rarely produced until now. Reflecting the tutelage of Yasuhito Abe, the interior is covered in a rich, dense yellow sesame glaze, as if the ash had been scooped directly from the kiln while molten. The foot, a signature detail of Aiga's, is left without slip, possessing the charming, crinkled texture reminiscent of a Karatsu sake cup.
Signed wooden box to follow at a later date (please allow some time for shipping).
Diameter 9.0cm × Diameter 9.0cm × Height 4.0cm Mashiro Aiga graduated from the Okayama Prefectural Bizen Pottery Center in 1997. In 2003, he built a fully underground anagama kiln in Sabukaze.
