Description

This is a new Bizen black sake cup, fired in the new kiln of Takashi Baba, who was born in Bizen and has loved Bizen ware since childhood, finding his life's joy in creating works and firing kilns. Fired in a position where ash-covered kiln changes (hai-kaburi yohen) occur, this is a rare piece where the black has transformed into cobalt blue due to intense ash coverage. Its highly refined design evokes a sense of solemnity, almost like a ritual vessel created through sculpture. The intense shades of black and indigo make it a stunning display piece on its own. Signed box to be provided later (please allow some time for shipping)
Diameter 18.7cm x Diameter 18.5cm x Height 16.5cm Takashi Baba was born in 1983 as the eldest son of Bizen ceramic artist Shosuke Baba. He graduated from the Tokyo University of the Arts Department of Sculpture in 2006, then went on to hone his skills at the Kyoto Municipal Institute of Industrial Technology and Culture. He became independent in 2007 and held his first solo exhibition. Currently, he is active mainly with solo exhibitions at department stores.
