Description

This is the latest Ibe tea bowl by Mashiro Aika, an artist known for creating works that are unwaveringly direct and possess great integrity. Through countless iterations of creation and destruction, his rugged style has become refined; while retaining its inherent power, it has evolved into a style that feels more restrained and imbued with the aesthetic of wabi. The silhouette is particularly exquisite—based on a rounded rhomboid shape, it is designed to fit comfortably in the palm while maintaining a sense of expansive, unconstrained form. As if the fire had drawn out the iron content within the clay, the entire surface is a rich, moist, amber-hued glaze. Within this Ibe black, specks of stone and "sesame" ash glazes shimmer, creating a magnificent landscape reminiscent of a galaxy.
