Description

This is a new Bizen sake cup by Kazuki Nakamura, an artist who creates works of profound depth, following in the tradition of the master sake vessel craftsmen Rokuro Nakamura and Makoto Nakamura. Just as sake is crafted through the mystery of rice and water, this piece was matured as if brewing the earth itself, utilizing only clay and fire to create a mysterious beauty. This particular piece is well-fired throughout; while it retains the scarlet "hi-iro" hue prized in sake vessels, it also offers the austere, rustic natural ash glaze scenery characteristic of Bizen ware. The rim, finished with Kazuki Nakamura's delicate touch, reflects the expressive styling inherited from the "god of sake vessels," Rokuro Nakamura, ensuring the sake is delivered with the perfect mouthfeel. Diameter 7.8cm × Diameter 7.8cm × Height 4.7cm Kazuki Nakamura was born in 1980 as the eldest son of Makoto Nakamura. After graduating from the Faculty of Letters at Okayama University in 2003, he studied under his grandfather and father to hone his ceramic techniques. He fired his first kiln and became independent in 2006.
