Description

This is a newly fired Bizen black sake cup by Takashi Baba, an artist born in Imbe who has loved Bizen ware since childhood and finds his life's joy in creating works and firing kilns. This piece was fired in his traditional climbing kiln rather than his new one, resulting in a well-fired, lustrous black finish accented by bright yellow sesame (goma) glaze. True to Mr. Baba’s words that this is the best firing he has ever achieved, the thick, yellow sesame glaze creates a spectacular landscape. The stylish, three-legged design complements the orthodox body of the piece perfectly.
