Description

This is a new Bizen sake cup by Hisanaga Koide, who has made his long-awaited debut after completing a long apprenticeship under Juro Harada. The substantial feel and craftsmanship achieved through the coil-building technique give it a dense presence, as if it were a miniature water pitcher or waste-water container. The delicate technique of finely shaving the interior, contrasted with a bold style that leaves the seams visible, evokes the spirit of Harada’s teachings. By carefully illuminating the surface, one can enjoy the various movements of light across the flow of the clay and the facets created by the meticulous shaving. Signed wooden box to be provided later (please allow some time for delivery)
Diameter 6.8cm × Diameter 6.7cm × Height 5.2cm Hisanaga Koide was born in Amagasaki City, Hyogo Prefecture, in 1978. He became an apprentice to Juro Harada in 1997. He went independent in 2011 and built his own climbing kiln in Ushimado-cho, Setouchi City, Okayama Prefecture. He fired his first kiln in 2013.
